Newport House has an extensive wine cellar with many superb vintage wines, enabling guests to choose the perfect accompaniment to their meal, or relaxing after dinner drink by the fire in the sitting room.
The following wines are chosen from the main listing as representing excellent quality. The selection is a personal one, and is offered for the convenience of any guest who may not be interested in ploughing through the main listings. A word of caution regarding older vintages, the pre 1970 clarets are now over 30 years old. Almost all have reached full maturity and some may be in decline. They appeal to those of us who enjoy older wines and are prepared to accept the occasional disappointment in order to enjoy the pleasure of an old wine. They are in our opinion worth sampling with the above caveat.
